Visit of the old town of Tbilisi: Anchiskhati church (6th century) Sioni cathedral (575- 639), Metechi church (13th century), sulfur baths, Narikala fortress (4th century), walk along the old Silk Road and Rustaveli Avenue. In the afternoon visit the treasury chamber in the Historical Museum (goldsmith's art from the time of the Golden Fleece). Afterwards, visit SARAJISHVILI- brandy factory.

After breakfast, drive through the steppe desert to the monastery of Davit-Gareja; Visit the monastery of Davit-Gareja, a hike (ascent and tour around 2-3 hours) to the caves of the Udabno monastery with impressions of frescoes and a wide view of the beautiful deserts on the border with Azerbaijan. On the way to Sighnaghi lunch with a Georgian family, you will get to know the Georgian hospitality and Georgian table traditions and taste delicious Georgian wine. Afterwards visit the nunnery Bodbe with particularly beautiful frescoes of the 17th century. Here is a tomb of St. Nino. Afterwards drive to Sighnaghi.

After sightseeing Sighnaghi -the city of love, visit the Ethnographic Museum. A further incentive is the Nekresi Monastery, located about 900 m on the slope of one of the foothills of the Great Caucasus, in the middle of forests. For lunch grilling in the nature. Then visit the fortress of Gremi (16th century), then visit the royal residence (Georgian batoni’s tsikhe) in Telavi. Over the Gombori Pass (about 1 620m) return to Tbilisi.

After breakfast, drive to the ancient capital of Mtskheta at the intersection of Military and Silk Road. Visit Jvari- (Cross) Monastery (585-605). Here on this hill, Nino, a monumental cross, was a triumphal sign of the Christianization of the country. Next visit to Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century). The cathedral of the life-giving pillar-swetitskhoveli was for centuries the coronation and burial site of the Georgian monarchs and was regarded as the main church of the Georgian Orthodox Apostle Church. Then visit a Georgian market in the city of Mtskheta. Afterwards, ride over the ski resort Gudauri to Kazbegi. On the way visit the Ananuri fortress (16th-18th century).

Kazbegi, Gerget’s Monastery, Darial Gorge
After breakfast, hike (3-4 hours) or trip to the Trinity Church of tsminda Sameba (14th century, about 2.000m). If you are standing in front of Kazbek (5.047m) and looking up to this impressive mountain, you will soon notice that it is here on a mythical mountain. In the afternoon drive along the river Terek to the gloomy deep and legendary Darial Gorge to the border of the Russian Federation. Return to Tbilisi.

Drive to Gori, visit the museum of Josef Jugashvili (on request), then visit the cave town Uplistsikhe. It is the oldest cave town in Georgia. Uplistsikhe has been inhabited since the end of the second century BC until the 18th century. The caravan route that led along the river Mtkvari made Uplistsikhe a rich city. The entire area now offers visitors a stroll along the ancient streets, the theater, a pharmacy, royal rooms, pagan temples and a Christian basilica church. (About 2 hours). Drive to Kutaisi.

Monastery complex Gelati, Nikortsminda
Visit the monastery complex Gelati (1106). The most beautiful sacral building complex consists of three churches, a bell tower and the building of the academy. The foundation stone for the Academy of Gelati was laid by King Davit IV in the year 1106. According to his plan there was to be a second Athens. The landscape is as magnificent as if Gelati had grown into nature. Afterwards the trip goes to the mountain region Ratcha through the traditional Georgian villages past the Kharistvala Lake, surrounded by mighty snow mountains of the Great Caucasus. A further incentive is the bishop's church Nikortsmind, which is a highlight of medieval stonemasonry with impressive ornaments and frescoes. Nikorstminda is considered to be the crown of Georgian medieval architecture.

Dadiani Palace, up into the Great Caucasus
Today the trip goes to the provincial town of Mestia, while visiting Dadiani Palace in Zugdidi. The palace includes a castle with court church and a botanical garden. Since 1921, the city "Museum of History and Folklore" has housed over 41,000 objects from the princely family Dadiani.

Ushguli, "Lamaria" Church, Ethnographic Museum
The journey or hike to the village of Ushguli is a journey through a landscape called Indian summer in Svaneti. But this is no longer a landscape, it is a total work of art. A five-hour, six-hour, non-strenuous hike leads you to the origin of the legendary River Enguri. The mountain village of Ushguli, where time has stood still, and has a legendary place in Georgia, fascinates by its picturesque scenery in unspoilt nature. From here, walk to the "Lamaria" church (10th century), visit the Ethnographic Museum. Back to Mestia.

Today drive to the Georgian-Turkish border Sarpi. On the way back visit the Gonio fortress. The castle was formerly called Apsaros, probably the first Roman fortress in Georgia. Later place was occulied by Byzantines and Ottomans. The 900 meter long and up to 5 meter high wall with 18 of the 22 watchtowers have been preserved to this day. Visit the Botanical Garden is an interesting excursion destination. Here you can relax from the summer heat very well. The garden covers 108 hectares. It is divided into nine geographical and scenic zones, where you can visit 5,000 plant species from different countries. Afterwards drive south to the small Caucasus to the spa town of Borjomi.

Cave town Vardzia
After breakfast, visit the public spa park where you can taste fresh, tasty Borjomi mineral water from the Catherine's source. Afterwards drive to the cave town of Vardzia (12th-13th century). The cave complex, hidden in the rock on several levels, steeply above the Mtkvari River, completely hidden in the mountain, consisted of 3,000 cave dwellings. Undoubtedly one of the highlights of any trip through Georgia. Return to Akhaltsikhe.

Rabat, Paravani Lake, Foka Monastery
After breakfast, visit the Rabat fortress complex. On the site of the castle of Akhaltsikhe is Rabat, a mosque built in 1752, converted into an orthodox church, the walls of a Koran school, the museum of history and art of the region. Afterwards, we will drive through the High Caucasus, passing by the Paravani and several volcanic lakes and Armenian villages. On the way visit the Foka Monastery near Paravani Lake. It is supposed to be built on the site where St. Nino has erected the vault of crosses. According to the tradition, Nino had come into the country through Paravani Lake to Christianize Georgians.
