Ananuri Fortress
Ananuri fortified ensemble is one of the best monuments of Georgian architecture in the end of feudal era. The complex includes the main church of Virgin Mary (XVII century), a minor church of Gvtaeba (XVII century), a tower with a stepped pyramidal roof (xvi century), tower Sheupovari. The main church is decorated with many reliefs, the doors and windows are depicted with beautiful ornaments. The wall painting contains some impressive frescoes. The castle was the scene of numerous battles.
Gudauri ski resort
The ski resort of Gudauri is situated at an altitude of 2,000 m, 120 km from Tbilisi, built just under 20 years ago by an Austrian-Georgian community company. In the second half of the 19th century, the village of Gudauri was a busy post office. Today the village with its 19 km of ski slopes up to 3. 250 m is a most popular ski resort for both Georgian and foreign skiers. You can enjoy the white landscape, the bright sun and the blue sky all day. The most attractive are helicopter ski tours, which are mainly targeted at European customers.
Gergeti Trinity Church
The "old monastery ..., God close high above clouds there!” which Pushkin mentions in his poem, was built in the 13th / 14th century on the site already sacred to the pre-Christian era. Darial Gorge
Darial Gorge is a part of Georgian military road. Behind Kazbegi, an old military road leads along the Tergi River into the gloomy and legendary Darial ravine to the border of the Russian Federation. The Darial Gorge derives its name from the Persian dar-i and from the Alans (the gate des Alans). It had huge importance from the outset. The road constructed by the Russian military in XIX century was the only connection of Russia with the Trans Caucasus. While driving through the gorge, the traveler will experience an unforgettable picturesque nature.
Kazbegi Mountain
Kazbegi- a popular mountain for mountaineers is located at 5,047 m above sea level. Its original meaning in Georgian is Mkinvartsveri (ice summit), which refers to the glitter covered with the eternal snow. Whoever is standing in front of Kazbegi and looking up to this impressive mountain, will quickly realize that he is here at one of the roots of Western mythology. According to the Amirani legend, it is the mountain to which Prometheus, so called Georgian mythical Amirani, was smashed out of revenge for having stolen the fire from the gods and brought them to the people. According to the legend, an eagle comes every day and tears the liver of the captured Amirani. Amirani's faithful dog, Qursha, gnaws at the chains. But on every day of the Lord's Day, God's forgiveness with heavy hammers strike the anvil and restore the fragile chain to its original power.
